Setting Up the Extract Process for OpenCommsPowerView

OpenComms Designer contains the program necessary to create intelligent graphic files that can be viewed using OpenComms PowerView, while disconnected from the Oracle database, and still have the database information available for the user. Device reviews, fiber tracing, and the ability to view splice connections and equipment are just some of the features available for the ‘disconnected’ user/viewers.

Though OpenComms PowerView is required to view these files, the actual ‘CPVExtract’ functionality is a program found within OpenComms Designer. The following instructions detail the installation and configuration of the CPVExtract Process.

Note: Whether creating Extracts to be run in the GUI or using a Command Line, the following steps are the same.

There should be a shortcut icon on the desktop for CPVExtract. If it is not there, locate the CPVExtract.exe file in the root directory of the C:\Program Files\Bentley\Communications 2023\OpenCommsDesigner folder and drag a shortcut to the desktop.
